The employer side of group health insurance is not exhausted by paying premiums: the policyholder company also bears information and administration duties. None are complicated – but they must be known, because most friction stems from their omission.
Under the logic of insurance regulation, the policyholder (the company) must inform the insured persons (the employees) of the insurance’s essential content: what the cover extends to, how to use it, the main limits, and how it ends. In practice this is discharged by the employee briefing (playbook) and the one-page summary – for our clients we prepare both, so fulfilment is documented.
The good news: most of the list is a routine set up once. We help with the insurer-facing administration; the company keeps staff communication, the roster-report owner (HR/payroll) and policy maintenance. At the review, if it is warranted or you ask (article) the obligations list is checked too.
Informational content, not legal advice – specific obligations follow the contract and prevailing regulation.
