This is the group scheme’s limitation that most deserves saying out loud – and exactly why it merits article-depth clarity, because a vague answer here damages trust the most.
Group cover is tied to employment: the leaver’s insured status ends at the contractual point – typically the end of the exit month. The company flags the change in the next roster report; the premium correction settles the financial side (the routine).
One sentence in the exit conversation suffices, but it must be there: „your cover runs until [date] – if you have a pending examination or an invoice to submit, handle it by then". The gesture costs nothing, and it is precisely leavers who carry the company’s reputation onward.
Employment-linkage is the other side of the same coin that enables entry without underwriting at favourable prices. Whoever wants long-term, portable individual protection needs individual health insurance – the relationship between the two is covered in our comparison article.
