Onboarding: where health insurance belongs on day one

In recruiting, the benefits package is a promise – in onboarding it becomes reality. And first-week impressions stick: whoever understands and receives their access in week one will actually use it.

Day one: one page, one sentence

The onboarding pack should contain the one-page summary (what their tier includes, who to call), and the welcome should include a single sentence: „here you don’t wait weeks for a specialist – here’s the number, this is how it works". That is all. Details can wait; the signal cannot.

Week one: technical activation

Month one: the first use

The best activator is a concrete suggestion: „if you like, you can already book your annual screening". Someone who uses the system once in the first month has a working benefit – someone who does not for six months likely never will. Utilisation moves: utilisation article.

What to avoid

Do not hand it over as attachment #14 of the onboarding pile – it disappears there. And do not promise more than the tier holds: precise, honest presentation (what yes, what no) builds more trust long-term than the polished version. For the recurring questions: employee FAQ.
